Commence Announces the Release of Designer Edition Version 3.0

Release scheduled for October 2003

The Designer Edition Version 3.0 offers technology enhancements for end users and professional developers alike. This release is focused on enhancing database capacities, improving workgroup performance, and additional flexibility which will enable customers to enjoy easier to use, and more cosmetically appealing applications.

The database has been enhanced to include more views, more agents and more filters. Performance improvements have also been made to the workgroup server and its clients to ensure faster synchronisation and easier administration.

Outlined below is a list of the specific functionality incorporated in the Designer Edition Version 3.0.

Database Capacity

Increase number of categories from 500 to 800 More categories are available which increases the amount and type of information you can capture in your applications.
Increase number of connections from 600 to 1000 More connections are available to build relationships within your business data.
Increase number of views from 700 to 1000 Create more multiviews and pre-built WYSIWYG reports to support your business requirements.
Increase number of filters from 4 to 8 More filters enable searches to be more precise, displaying only the information that is needed by the end-user or your business requirements.

Increase number of letter templates from 400 to 600 Ensure consistent communication with your customers by building a library of letter templates available for the whole workgroup.
Increase number of color code templates from 600 to 1000 Additional color code templates enable more presentation options for views.
Increase number of import/export templates from 400 to 600 Take advantage of Commence's import and export features for sharing data with external systems and applications.

Detail Forms can be enhanced with graphic images and icons Lines, images, and icons enable a more cosmetically pleasing detail form layout that is easier to use.
Enhanced Form Designer makes it easy to update the detail form layout of fields, text, and graphics Resellers and Commence administrators can customise their detail forms using the enhanced Form Designer to include text, graphics, and other Windows controls to improve their applications so they are easier to use, more cosmetically pleasing, and better able to meet end-users requirements.
Automated conversion of existing forms to new database format Existing form layouts are automatically converted to the new database format used by the enhanced form designer.
Enhanced Detail Forms are compatible with existing detail form scripts from prior versions. The implementation effort is reduced since scripts do not need to be updated.
Enhanced connection control displays fields in a "grid" view style Having the right information available makes it easier, more usable, and more accurate for end-users to make connections between existing items.

 

 

Multiviews
