New Palm Pilot Link Version
With the rapid growth in the use of PDA's over the last few years,
Commence saw the need to develop a way to share information between a
Commence database and a PDA. They chose to support synchronisation
with PalmPilot, one of the most popular PDA's on the market. (You can also exchange information between Windows based
hand-held devices and Commence using Outlook synchronisation, which
is built into Commence).
The Commence PalmPilot Link as it is known, provides a two-way
information synchronisation between a Commence database and a
PalmPilot. The synchronisation process copies information added or modified in the Commence database and stores it in the
PalmPilot. It also copies information from the PalmPilot and adds or modifies the items in the Commence
database. The Commence PalmPilot Link has been invaluable to Commence
customers for many years.
However, the significant changes made to the latest generation of
Palm Pilot T3s series of devices, has made synchronisation with
Commence through the existing Commence Palm Pilot Link more difficult. In
particular there were significant changes in the conduits installed by
the Palm Pilot T3s series of devices. These conduits do not
synchronise properly with the existing Commence Palm Pilot Link (they also
broke the connection to a lot of 3rd party applications).
The good news is that a new version of the Palm Pilot Link to
support the Tungsten E and T3 models is currently in development. The new
Commence PalmPilot Link v7.0 works with both Commence Personal and Workgroup to
synchronise information with the built in PalmPilot
applications:
- Address Book
- Date Book
- Memo Pad
- To Do List

In order to run and use the new Commence PalmPilot Link v7.0, you
